At times I have been looking everywhere for hardwoods that I can work up into things like rocking chairs, children’s building blocks, toy cars and trucks, picture frames, and dining room chairs and tables. Good hardwood can be expensive, and hard to find, but I know a few secrets. Things like wood pallets, construction cutoffs, and free oak logs come in handy. However, a thickness planer is a must. The Dewalt Thickness Planer is a moderately priced, but above-average tool. I have used the one pictured here for many years and it has never failed me. It is well worth consideration.
